Oak Ridge Winery is the oldest operating winery in Lodi, California. Founded as a winery co-op in 1934, it had been operating as such up until 2002, when it was purchased by the Maggio and Reynolds families, both multi-generational grape-growing families from the San Joaquin Valley. Today the winery continues to be family owned and operated with three generations of Maggios working for the company. Rudy Maggio, along with his family, run what is today Oak Ridge Winery.

Upon taking ownership of the winery, the families initiated an extensive and comprehensive renovation that has transformed Oak Ridge Winery into a state-of-the-art wine-making facility capable of meeting the quality and volume demands of the times. The recent addition of 1,000,000 gallons of tank space as well as a new bottling facility are key improvements that will help ensure the winery’s continued growth.

The company however, is more than just bricks, mortar, tanks and barrels. The owners have assembled a team of passionate industry professionals with the knowledge and experience necessary to create world-class wines:

The Oak Ridge wines are continuing to have a national impact as more consumers discover them.

The portfolio consists of a handful of core brands including Old Soul, Maggio Family Vineyards, Moss Roxx, and Lodi Estates. Their flagship brand however, OZV, is what has catapulted the company to where it is today and continues to drive its incredible growth. OZV Zinfandel is now recognized as a top Zinfandel in the United States and garners widespread acclaim from both wine critics and consumers alike. The popularity of the Zinfandel has triggered the recent introduction of a Zinfandel-based Red Blend and a Zinfandel-based Rosé to the line. Although the OZV Zinfandel continues to drive much of Oak Ridge’s explosive growth, the winery is looking to widen its focus in the future to other varietals including Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Old Soul brand is poised to be the winery’s next growth brand and features among other varietals an estate grown Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Maggio line of wines is a tribute to the family behind the winery and offers varietals ranging from Pinot Grigio to Cabernet Sauvignon. Moss Roxx and Lodi Estates are their super-premium offerings that represent the pinnacle of the winery’s Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon programs. Both wines are big, bold, reserve-style representations of each varietal.

Although largely unknown amongst the general population, Lodi has become recognized in recent years as a powerhouse for California wine production.

In fact, the region produces more wine than Sonoma and Napa counties combined. With this being the case, the Lodi region continues to deliver wines of consistent exceptional quality, and at a value to the customer. Lodi is where the Maggio and Reynolds families call home, as have several other legendary wine families over the decades. The families’ vineyard holdings reach into the thousands of acres and include varietals from Muscat to Cabernet Sauvignon. Because the region is situated between the Sierra Nevada foothills and the San Francisco bay, it enjoys a uniquely Mediterranean climate, characterized by warm days and coastal evening breezes that allows it to grow an array of grape varietals. California’s top varietals thrive here, with Zinfandel being a singular phenomenon. Some of Oak Ridge’s Zinfandel vineyards are made up of vines more than 100 years old, producing small yields of intensely flavored fruit creating wines that are the ultimate expression of the Lodi terrior.

To say there is a lot going at Oak Ridge Winery today would be an understatement.
