Barnett Vineyards: Spring Mountain District, Napa Valley; Cabernet Sauvignon. Just the beginning of bud break up here at 2,000 ft elevation on Spring Mountain. Our vineyards are terraced on a 38° slope.
Bridlewood Estate Winery: Zinfandel buds (St. George Clone) and Syrah buds from Block 7.
Dana Estate has just started bud break. A little at Helms in Rutherford, some leaves out in the Lotus Petite Verdot and just a couple of buds in Crystal Springs vineyard.
Dry Creek Vineyard While life all around us seems to have come to a screeching halt, Mother Nature reminds us that it will always regenerate and start new again.
E&J Gallo Winery’s Monte Rosso Vineyard. Fun Fact: Louis M Martini and Orin Swift are sourced from this vineyard.
Bud break is in full swing for Eberle Estate’s Cabernet Sauvignon. Planted in 1979 & still growing on their own roots.
New growth bursts forth at Edna Valley Vineyard‘s Block EV01 Chardonnay.
Flora Springs: Cabernet Sauvignon buds (that will go into Trilogy) from the Komes Family Ranch estate vineyard located in the Rutherford sub-appellation.
J Vineyards | Winemaker Nicole Hitchcock’s first sight of bud break was at the Eastside Knoll Vineyard located in RR Valley.
Hello Chardonnay! Bud break from Ken Brown’s Sanford & Benedict vineyard.
Morgan Winery | The timing of bud break was normal this year. The Chardonnay vines were budding out a week before the Pinot Noir which is typical behavior. The photos were from the Swan clone Pinot Noir at Double L Vineyard.
Oak Ridge Winery: This is taken from our newest vineyard of Chardonnay that will be harvested for the first time this year.
Pedroncelli Winery: Bud break in our Mother Clone Zinfandel vineyard. Planted to Zinfandel since the early 1900s.
Quady Winery: All of these are orange muscat vines which are located on our estate. They usually get harvested August-September.

TATE: A sign of great things to come! We are a few weeks behind the Napa Valley floor up above the fog at our Jack’s Vineyard on Howell Mountain but already we are anticipating another fantastic vintage from our Cabernet Sauvignon vines…stay tuned for October 2020!
Tooth & Nail Winery: Chardonnay vines from Murmur Vineyard located in the South Western portion of the Santa Maria AVA, 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean.
Chardonnay vines planted in 2018 at Trefethen Family Vineyards in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. Warmer temperatures in February likely spurred the early bud break, which began with the younger vines.
Vina Robles: A shot from Huerhuero Vineyard. The Viognier has achieved bud break, vintage 2020 is off and running!
OREGON:
RoseRock and Domaine Drouhin Oregon
Over at Roserock in the Eola-Amity Hills, our Chardonnay is about 2% of the way through bud break and still sitting at 0% for the Pinot Noir.
Domaine Drouhin Oregon, has one lower elevation block of Chardonnay that is already at 50% through bud break, which is far ahead of everything else on the Dundee Hills estate.

Dusted Valley: The Sconni Block Estate Vineyard Cab Franc is moving right through bud break.
FRANCE:
Champagne Bruno Paillard, Château de Campuget, Château Laujac,
Domaine de Cala, Domaine de Cristia
Champagne Bruno Paillard: Chardonnay bud break has now spread over most of the eastward-facing Côte des Blancs. The young vines are pruned last in order to protect them as much as possible from the frequent spring frosts in Champagne (about -2 °F this morning!).
The start of spring at Château Laujac Family Estate in Medoc, France. At Laujac, the culture of the vine is both traditional and innovative; it changes according to the different climatic conditions and soils.

ITALY:
Abbazia di Novacella and Bortolomiol
Abbazia di Novacella: This week in the warmest spots of the vineyards (close to the supporting walls) bud break began. The pictures were captured today (April 9). It is quite early, and we are a little bit afraid as in the second half of April we often have frost. At the moment, temperatures get up as high as 74 °F and so everything goes very fast and by the end of next week all of our vineyards should be in the bud break stage.
Bortolomiol: While society is experiencing a particular moment where everything seems to have stopped, our vineyards come back to life. Here, in fact, in the appellation of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, thanks to the mild temperature of these weeks, the first buds have sprung. An excellent sign of recovery, now we await the first leaves in the coming days. In any case, it’s official: spring is here!
